The only thing I will most likely change is the nut to compensate for the Bigsby. The pickups: The P-90 Dogears are solid. I have read a bunch of folks immediately want switch out the pickups for GuitarFetish, Seymore Duncans or Lollers, but I don't feel I have to do that. I want to play it for a while and I am still on the fence if I will ever replace the stock P-90s. Additionally, I want to address the comments on the ability for the Wildkat to play Metal effectively and the traditional buzz on the P-90s when utilizing a heavy dose of distortion/overdrive . I will say that using transparent overdrive really makes the Wildkat sound epiphone casino bigsby fantastic, especially with the neck pickup. My first comment is I really don't see Metal players running out to buy the Wildkat just based on aesthetics alone, but I tend to think generalizations are stupid. Kediler patates yer mi.
The pictures do not do the Wildkat justice, this thing is beautiful. Forget what I say, my wife moved the guitar stand in the office so she can see the guitar from the other room as she sees it as a work of art. The finish is fantastic, the chrome accents are outstanding and that Bigsby really is a nice touch. Perhaps it is my preference, but the headstock with the ”bikini” Epiphone badge is a perfect compliment. The size: Perhaps this is a personal choice but the size of the body is the ”Goldilocks” size: not too big, not too small. It is slightly bigger than a Les Paul, but not as big as a ES 335 or a Dot. That actually works very well for me. Interesting to note is the construction process for the Wildkat uses computer routing to carve out sections of the solid body leaving only section for the pick ups.
